Our Work Brand USA

Connecting International Travelers with American Experiences

Successful destination marketing starts with understanding the traveler. Casual Astronaut helped Brand USA create content that resonated with diverse international audiences — and continues to inspire travel to the United States.

The United States attracts travelers from every corner of the globe. But inspiring someone to visit isn’t simply a matter of showcasing destinations. Different audiences have different motivations, interests, expectations and travel styles.

That’s where strategy matters.

Brand USA, the destination marketing organization for the United States, partnered with Casual Astronaut to develop travel content for highly targeted international audiences. Our assignment included itinerary development and editorial content designed to inspire travelers from India, LGBTQ+ travelers attending WorldPride and other niche audiences exploring the U.S.

Understanding the Audience Before Telling the Story

Successful travel content starts with understanding who you’re speaking to.

Before developing content, we researched audience interests, travel behaviors and cultural considerations to identify the experiences most likely to resonate with each segment. We then matched the project with writers who brought the right expertise, perspective and subject matter knowledge to the assignment.

Our work included:

  • Audience and traveler research
  • Editorial strategy and content planning
  • Writer sourcing and assignment
  • Content creation and editing
  • Destination storytelling
  • Image selection and content packaging
  • Localization and international audience review

Creating Content for Global Audiences

Brand USA tasked Casual Astronaut with developing travel content for a range of international markets, including India, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and other global audiences considering a trip to the United States. We also created content specifically for LGBTQ+ travelers visiting the U.S. for WorldPride.

Each assignment required more than destination knowledge. It required an understanding of what motivates different travelers, how they plan trips and the experiences they’re most eager to discover.

Whether highlighting the big skies of Texas, beach towns near Boston or Pride celebrations along the Pacific Coast, our goal was the same: create content that inspires travelers to see themselves in the journey.

Results Across Markets and Audiences

Because the content would appear across Brand USA’s international websites — including versions tailored for India, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia — every piece needed to resonate with a global audience. We crafted content that was clear, accessible and inspiring, helping travelers from around the world imagine their own journey through the United States.

From established markets like the United Kingdom and Australia to growing markets such as India, Brand USA needed content that could inspire travelers while supporting broader marketing objectives.

Casual Astronaut delivered audience-driven travel content that aligned with campaign goals, addressed traveler interests and reflected the way international visitors research and plan trips. Published on Brand USA’s flagship travel website, VisittheUSA.com — and adapted for localized experiences across the .in, .co.uk, .se and .au sites — the content supported a larger international effort to increase awareness of U.S. destinations and encourage visitation from key global markets.

The project demonstrated how audience insights, editorial strategy and destination storytelling can work together to support destination marketing campaigns at an international scale.
